After a treatment many people report a feeling of lightness and being worry or stress free. This feeling will last a few days, often longer and having Reiki regularly helps maintain this feeling. Many clients come just to enjoy the feeling of deep relaxation and to switch off from the stresses of day-to-day living. It is a complimentary therapy used alongside conventional medicine. It does not replace them. Reiki cannot cure illness, disease or injury but it can support the body in healing itself and speed up recovery. Hospitals are increasing using it, not only to support patients and their loved ones through exceedingly difficult times both emotionally and physically, but also to help deal with the effects of treatments such as chemotherapy and in palliative care. Interest in the benefits of Reiki are continuing to grow in many other medical professions and hopefully one day it will be available to everyone as part of their support and aftercare.
